Mill Valley Historical Home
The 2-story Victorian house in Mill Valley, known as the Hayes House, is distinguished by its graceful verandas and alternating fishscale and diamond shingles.
While the original structure dates to 1892, the home has been masterfully rebuilt and modernized, with a floor plan engineered for modern living while preserving its authentic feel. This iconic property has been recognized for its significance in Mill Valley, notably achieving a record-breaking price per square foot in a private sale.
Painting the entire home required an exceptional level of care, with every surface demanding meticulous preparation, precise execution, and a sensitivity to the home’s character and materials. This project reflected everything we value in our work: craftsmanship, collaboration, and an unwavering attention to detail.
Having the opportunity to contribute to the transformation of this extraordinary historic home was both a privilege and a meaningful challenge. Rooted in architectural tradition yet layered with contemporary design elements, the house embodied a thoughtful blend of old and new.

Each room revealed its own design story. The dining room, finished in a rich high-gloss eggplant, offered a dramatic yet elegant focal point. In the kitchen, an embossed tin ceiling was brought to life with a soft metallic glaze—adding depth without drawing attention away from the custom cabinetry and statement island. Throughout the interior, curated wallpaper added personality and texture, while the exterior was painted a classic white, lending the home a quiet, timeless beauty.
